Compostable bubble wrap

TART is the first bubble wrap manufacturer to develop its own production of 100 % COMPOSTABLE BUBBLE WRAP from OK Compost HOME class material. The film meets the conditions for easily degradable film, even in HOME COMPOST OR COMMUNITY COMPOSTING ENVIRONMENTS. The basic raw material is secondary waste from food production—potato starch—a renewable raw material. Therefore, it is a highly ecological and economical way of recycling waste. In addition, the production of the film has a SHORTER CARBON FOOTPRINT, as it begins with the utilisation of otherwise unused waste generated during primary food production.

Compostable bubble wrap has EXCELLENT MECHANICAL PROPERTIES that are fully comparable to conventional PE-based bubble wrap. Although it is a compostable film, its good mechanical properties are retained for a long time under standard storage conditions, as the DECOMPOSITION PROCESS ONLY STARTS IN A COMPOST ENVIRONMENT. The film is very pleasant to the touch, easy to work with and easy to process. It is mainly used for READY-MADE PRODUCTS, such as sheets, bags and sacks. BUFO Envira HOME is ideal for protecting porcelain, glass, organic cosmetics and other products.

How to compost bubble wrap? 

Once it has served its main purpose, we recommend disposing of it in compost. Whether in a home or industrial composting facility, the packaging will decompose into biomass, water, and CO2. This decomposition process is entirely biological as it does not involve chemicals, but rather the natural action of bacteria that are abundant in living compost. 

Properties of BUFO Envira HOME

  •      Easy to cut and heat-seal, i.e. it can be used to produce ready-made products—bags, sacks or sheets
  •      Natural colour—milky white (not clear, but translucent)
  •      Printed information about the compostability of the film
  •      The material used complies with DIN EN 13 432 and is certified in the OK Compost HOME class (degrades within 90 days even in home compost)
